"Seeking to convert those who have never collected art into enthusiasts — one skeptic at a time."
I sometimes feel I’m the only human in the world who cannot easily articulate complex thoughts or ideas. Often, it's difficult for me to repeat something as basic as a knock-knock joke accurately. This is only one of the many reasons I love painting. Painting abstractly is a more effortless approach to express difficult ideas or emotions.
After a long career in business, which I mostly loved and would not change, I can connect several dots between executive management and artistic expression. Working through a problem or strategy while not knowing the outcome is the most significant. Rarely does an outcome perfectly match the original goal of an initiative or project. Many times, it turns out much better than you imagined. But the common thread is this: “Keep going, trust the process, trust your ability to roll with the punches and get a desirable result. If it’s not the result you want or need, then you aren’t finished.” A former boss used to love to say, “Hope is not a strategy.” This is true. But you must have hope and stamina to see a strategy through.
The greatest compliment I could ever expect to receive is from someone who has never enjoyed art before. I was thrilled to hear this from a friend of a client recently: "I'm the least artsy person I know, but I absolutely love her artwork." That same person and his wife ended up buying four pieces of art from me. We now have two more art enthusiasts in the world!
Bringing something to life that would not have existed otherwise and knowing it broke through a barrier of someone who had never loved art before…that’s just amazing to me. I’m addicted.
Living in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama, I have spent fifteen years creating abstract art. I painted in my spare time until 2022, but now that I have retired from my 9–5 corporate career, I am blessed to be able to paint almost daily. Seeing a painting take shape and take on a life of its own brings me joy. Using acrylic and ink is my preference. I also enjoy painting without brushes when using oil pastels.
My style is contrast and texture focused. Routine and themes do not come naturally to me. I am highly mood driven so staying in a specific color family is rare. I am influenced and drawn to bold hues and textures as well as large format pieces.
I have so much more to learn and experience in terms of mediums and techniques, but my style is abstract expressionism. As long as we breathe, we are changing and growing in our perspective and experiences. I am enjoying the process of growing my portfolio and re-experiencing the way a painting resonated with me at the time of painting. I look forward to exploring more mediums and incorporating additional techniques as I learn and grow.
Don’t miss out! To be held at the Trussville, Alabama Entertainment District on the afternoon of October 13th!
This show is going to be great fun. Music, food, and art? Yes, please! I can't wait to see you there
